The four-door
Pronto concept car, first shown at the Detroit Auto Show in January 1997. The design was modern with a few retro cues. A tall grill and split bumpers echoed that of the Prowler. |

The Pronto is a
benchmark achievement as it displaces minimal space outside, yet manages loads of room inside. |
| Pronto had a roll-back fabric roof, distinctive stand-alone bumpers, and body panels would be made of plastic. Blow-molded front and rear bumpers which, along with plastic trim, offer two molded-in color options compatible with interior trim. | The high roof allowed for more upright seating, giving the driver the same seating position found in SUVs, minivans, and later in the PT Cruiser. |
