The Pronto

Back

The four-door Pronto concept car,
first shown at the Detroit Auto Show
in January 1997.

The design was modern with a few retro cues.
A tall grill and split bumpers echoed
that of the Prowler.
The Pronto is a benchmark achievement
as it displaces minimal space outside,
yet manages loads of room inside.

Pronto had a roll-back fabric roof, distinctive stand-alone bumpers, and body panels would be made of plastic. Blow-molded front and rear bumpers which, along with plastic trim, offer two molded-in color options compatible with interior trim.
The high roof allowed for more upright seating,
giving the driver the same seating position
found in SUVs, minivans, and later
in the PT Cruiser.
