The fastest and easiest way to slice this off
  is with an electric carving knife
   (like for a thanksgiving turkey)
 You can use any hand saw with aggressive teeth.

 This picture shows the depression in the steel of the pan
  that the 'bulge' of the foam fits into.

 The seat foam simply sits in the steel pan, it lifts out easily.
